Puig, a global leader in luxury and beauty, has taken a big step by acquiring a majority stake in the German skincare brand Dr. Barbara Sturm. Although the founder will still hold a minority stake, Dr. Sturm will continue leading product development as the chief product development officer and brand ambassador.
This move is seen as a strategic enhancement for Puig in the premium skincare sector, leveraging the widespread recognition of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s brand, its strong digital presence, and its global network of spas and boutiques. Puig plans to expand the brand internationally, adding to its existing locations in cities like Düsseldorf, London, New York, and others.
Puig’s CEO, Marc Puig, emphasized the German company’s scientific approach to skincare and effective treatments, reinforcing Puig’s position in the premium skincare market. Dr. Barbara Sturm shared that the partnership signifies a joint commitment to innovation, product quality, and knowledge dissemination, aiming to introduce their skincare products to a broader audience.
Importantly, all products under the Dr. Barbara Sturm brand are free from synthetic fragrances, harsh preservatives, or parabens. The brand also follows cruelty-free practices and claims suitability for all skin types.
Dr. Barbara Sturm, known for her work in anti-inflammatory treatments, has a background in orthopedic research and specializes in aesthetics. Her notable treatments include the ‘Blood Facial’ and a personalized plasma-based moisturizer. In 2014, she launched her anti-inflammatory skincare collection, leading to the establishment of Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics, which currently operates seven spas and boutiques.
