Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has consistently demonstrated her exceptional acting skills in movies like Highway, Udta Punjab and recently in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. She made her long-awaited debut at the Met Gala, alongside New York City-based fashion designer Prabal Gurung. In a lengthy Instagram post, he revealed that he had previously invited her to the fashion event, but she chose to wait for the perfect opportunity.
Prabal initiated his post by providing details about the dress. “The gown features over 100,000 hand-embroidered pearls from India, sewn onto satin-faced organza from Europe. The entire outfit was produced in Atelier Prabal Gurung, New York. Alia Bhatt flaunts Atelier Prabal Gurung at the Met Gala 2023.” He went on to reminisce about how he and the actress had met during Karan Johar’s 40th birthday party.
Alia, it appears, remembers the meeting as well, and she eagerly wished to make her Met Gala debut with his brand. While Prabal had invited her before, she had preferred to wait for a more appropriate opportunity. Finally, the moment arrived, and Alia looked stunning in her gown.
It is unmistakable that both Alia and Prabal share an excellent professional relationship, as they worked together to create the ideal ensemble for the Met Gala. The attire was a reflection of their hard work, and it effectively showcased Alia’s glamour. Prabal’s Instagram post demonstrates his esteem for the actress and provides insights into the collaboration that went into creating her gorgeous red-carpet appearance.
Prabal Gurung, the designer of Alia Bhatt’s exclusive Met gown, complimented her as a good friend and a talented performer. He shared that he had received positive feedback about her acting skills from filmmakers and his brother, who was Karan’s assistant during the Student of The Year shoot. He was impressed by her at their first meeting and considered her to be unique. They had discussed her Met look extensively, even though he had invited her before. But Alia chose to wait before finally collaborating with him.
Prabal Gurung revealed that Alia Bhatt has been wise enough to wait for the right moment before creating her Met look. However, this time she felt it was the opportune time and they collaborated with Anaita to honor Karl Lagerfeld in a way that celebrated Alia’s heritage (hand-embroidered with 100,000 pearls in Mumbai), Gurung’s love for Lagerfeld, and all made in New York.
