Dua Lipa, a Grammy-winning singer, and Donatella Versace, the Italian fashion designer, have collaborated on Versace’s latest women’s collection, the High Summer “La Vacanza.” The collection will be unveiled during Versace’s “La Vacanza” fashion show on May 23rd in Cannes, France, amidst the Cannes Film Festival’s star-studded crowd. Once the show concludes, the collection will be available in stores and online.
Despite being a first-time fashion designer, Lipa had already worked on a capsule collection for Pepe Jeans London in 2019 and has been a long-time ambassador for PUMA. Lipa and Versace’s close friendship gave rise to the collaboration, with Lipa exclaiming that she was grateful for the support received from Donatella and the team since the beginning of her career. She even wore Versace to her first-ever Met Gala in 2019. Working with Donatella to co-design the collection took years, and it has been a dream come true for Lipa. In the past few years, the friendship between Lipa and Donatella has reached numerous highlights, and many iconic looks have been created. At the 2021 Grammys, Lipa wore a magnificent butterfly dress by Versace before winning Best Pop Vocal Album, later achieving another milestone in her career by making her runway debut for the brand at Milan Fashion Week that year. Lipa returned to the Grammys in 2022 wearing a matching Versace outfit with Megan Thee Stallion, her “Sweetest Pie” collaborator.
Donatella Versace described summer as a “magical time,” saying that she hopes the collection and the intimate show will capture the season’s colours and feelings. In the past, Donatella Versace has worked with other designers, including Kim Jones for the Fendace: Fendi by Versace collection and Ronnie Fieg for Kith x Versace.
Donatella was thrilled to work with Lipa, who she calls “strong, fearless, and free,” and highlights her exceptional creative vision. Versace recently held a star-studded fall-winter runway show in Los Angeles where Lipa, along with Miley Cyrus and fashion icons Lil Nas X and Elton John, sat in the front row.
Lipa’s new Versace collab will drop on May 23rd and can be purchased on Versace’s website. With the creativity and expertise of Lipa and Donatella Versace, the High Summer “La Vacanza” collection is bound to be a major highlight of the summer of 2022, offering fashion-forward individuals the chance to flaunt a vibrant, bold, and innovative style.
