FESPA has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Michel Caza (1935–2026), one of its founding members and former President. He passed away on 23 May 2026 at the age of 90.

A key figure in the establishment of FESPA in 1961, Caza was among the original board members who helped build the federation around knowledge sharing, collaboration between printers and suppliers, and the promotion of screen printing across Europe. He served on the board until 2014 and held the role of President from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2000 to 2002, a period of major transformation for the organisation.

Over his career, Caza became a respected innovator, educator and author in the print industry, collaborating with leading artists and earning more than 350 industry awards. He was widely recognised for his technical contributions, including advancements in UV curing inks and fine halftone screen printing, as well as his strong advocacy for digital inkjet as a complementary technology to screen printing.

He was also an early voice for sustainability in print, authoring Screen Printing: A Guide for a Clean Planet in 2001, which later influenced FESPA’s sustainability initiatives.

FESPA leadership has described him as a passionate believer in collaboration, education and community, values that remain central to the organisation today.

Further tributes will be shared by FESPA across its official channels in due course.
