The Department of Textile Technology at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trident Group, one of India’s largest textile conglomerates, on September 17, 2025. The agreement aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and create opportunities for students to gain hands-on industry exposure.
The MoU was signed by Prof. B. K. Kanaujia, Director of NIT Jalandhar, and Mr. Nemai Chandra Ray, Functional Head – Fibre and Yarn Innovation at Trident Limited. The signing was attended by Prof. Monica Sikka, Head of the Department of Textile Technology; Prof. Ajay Bansal, Registrar; Dr. M. D. Roy, Dean (Industry and International Affairs); along with faculty members Prof. A. Mukhopadhyay, Prof. Vinay Midha, and Prof. A. K. Choudhary.
The collaboration will support internships, manpower development, workshops, R&D projects, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. It also seeks to encourage the exchange of expertise, innovations, and technical know-how across diverse textile fields.
Prof. B. K. Kanaujia, Director of NIT Jalandhar, said: “This MoU will provide our students with greater industry exposure and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. Collaborating with a global leader like Trident aligns with our vision of strengthening skill development, research, and innovation in textiles.”
Mr. Nemai Chandra Ray, Trident Limited, added: “At Trident, we believe in building strong partnerships with academic institutions to shape the future of the textile industry. This collaboration with NIT Jalandhar will help us nurture talent, drive innovation, and create sustainable solutions that benefit both industry and society.”
The partnership is expected to advance skill enhancement, research collaborations, and practical learning for students while contributing to the technological growth of the textile industry.
