YKK Corporation has announced its decision to construct a new manufacturing facility in India under its subsidiary, YKK India Private Limited, as part of its expansion strategy in one of the world’s fastest-growing textile and apparel markets.

The new factory will be located at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, and will serve as YKK’s third manufacturing unit in India. It will complement the company’s existing facilities in Haryana, strengthening its production network across both northern and southern India.

Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, the new plant will integrate YKK’s advanced manufacturing technologies to meet increasing demand from both domestic apparel manufacturers and export-oriented markets. The expansion reflects India’s growing importance as a global textile production hub.

YKK stated that the new facility will also focus on building locally rooted operations by creating employment opportunities and contributing to regional economic development. The company aims to establish a production system capable of catering to diverse customer requirements across the apparel value chain.

The project involves an investment of USD 150 million, covering land acquisition, construction, machinery, and equipment. The facility will span a land area of approximately 149,936 square metres, with a planned building area of 74,658 square metres. Completion is expected by February 2028.

YKK India Private Limited, established in 1995, currently operates manufacturing units and offices across multiple Indian cities, including Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and others, along with overseas offices in regions such as Nepal and the UAE.

With this expansion, YKK continues to strengthen its position in the global fastening products market while aligning with India’s rapid growth in textiles, apparel manufacturing, and export demand.
