With its recently expanded “Shunya” collection, ethnic apparel and lifestyle brand FabIndia hopes to reduce plastic waste. After introducing a line of carpets and rugs produced from recycled PET yarn created from plastic waste, the company has now added bags and other accessories to the line.

According to a FabIndia representative quoted in a press release, “World Environment Day is an opportunity for every enterprise to highlight their approach to environmental protection and to reaffirm their commitment to sustainability.” ‘Shunya’ is the ideal balance of style and sustainability, and it recognises the 2023 topic #BeatPlasticPollution as our distinctive sustainability offering. It is made with PET yarn that has been recycled after being upcycled from used single-use plastic bottles.

The collection aims to reimagine how people perceive both fashion and environmental responsibility. The collection, named Shunya, which translates to “zero” and stands for “zero waste,” is intended to play a significant role in lowering the quantity of plastic that ends up in landfills in India.
