Uzbekistan has allocated 55,000 hectares of land to launch a regenerative agriculture program for cotton. This initiative forms part of a major collaboration between the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) and Bizpando, a blockchain-based platform focused on supply chain compliance.
Training Programs Strengthen Technical Capacity
Dr Keshav Kranthi, ICAC Chief Scientist, led an intensive three-day training at the Cotton Research Institute in Tashkent from October 21–23, 2025. The program included theoretical sessions and practical field demonstrations. It brought together 50 participants, including scientists and government officials from the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Following this, Dr Kranthi and Dr Abdurakhmonov jointly conducted a one-day field training camp in Jizzakh on October 24, 2025. The session trained 98 farmers. Bizpando representatives Mr Jasper Bhowmick and Mr Mark Li also attended these programs.
MoU Signed in Washington, DC
Soon after, Minister of Agriculture Dr Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov — accompanied by senior officials Mr Javlon Raimov and Mr Abrorbek Kosimov — visited ICAC Headquarters in Washington, DC. During this visit, Dr Abdurakhmonov, Dr Kranthi, and Bizpando CEO Jasper Bhowmick signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing the collaboration.
Carbon Testing and Farmer Registration Underway
The Ministry of Agriculture is now identifying carbon testing laboratories for accreditation and certification. Dr Kranthi is guiding the evaluation, testing standards, and accreditation procedures.
Additionally, the Ministry has shared a list of participating farmers with Bizpando to begin registration and documentation for carbon payment processes. Bizpando will send Mr Mark Li to Uzbekistan from November 17–21, 2025, to train farmers and government officials on carbon credit documentation, verification, and payment procedures.
