The Shree Market Silk Merchants Association concluded its 75th anniversary celebrations on 14th April at Garware Club House, Mumbai.

At the event, Late Dhirubhai Ambani was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who also unveiled a commemorative textile souvenir.

Lodha highlighted India’s rich textile legacy—tracing its journey from Dhaka’s muslin to the industrial transformation led by Dhirubhai Ambani and the current momentum under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Padma Bhushan Kundanbhai Vyas noted that while cities like Surat and Ahmedabad have surged ahead in textile trade, Mumbai must modernize its outdated markets and support surrounding power loom and processing hubs.

Neeraj Mehta, the newly elected President, emphasized expanding the association’s reach through sustainable fashion, digital growth, and global trade. He shared that with Reliance Foundation’s support, educational assistance has been provided to 650 students over the past four years.

Narendra Mehta, former President, highlighted the association’s role in trade arbitration, with legal backing from Advocate Rakesh Jain.

Pankaj Sheth of Orbit Exports celebrated the legacy of merchants as vital connectors between producers and consumers.

Sushma Morthania of the India SME Forum encouraged the textile sector to tap into the 75 new industrial hubs being developed across India.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Jayantilal Jain, Honorary Secretary of the association.
