On July 30, fashion designer Anamika Khanna showcased Indian crafts as high-end, wearable works of art during the 16th India Couture Week. Actress Athiya Shetty walked as the show-stopper for the eponymous designer during the runway presentation, which was held in the Durbar Hall of the Taj Palace.
The couture line by Anamika Khanna combined bright white colours with eye-catching, enormous designs and lavish embellishments. The collection had both conventional and experimental styles, and both the men’s and women’s event dress experimented with texture and floral elements.
The show’s finale included actress Athiya Shetty walking with Khanna in a white floor-length gown with elaborate lace, vivid, floral appliqués, and silver shine. The pieces in the fusion-styled collection were created as wearable textile art and had a sophisticated, global, and feminine sensibility.
The textures of the collection included slinky satin, sheer linens, and Kinkhab brocade. A sharara jacket set and patterned skirts worn with bralet tops that looked like jewellery were notable ensembles.
Interflora India, a florist, revealed on Instagram that their creative arrangements and fresh flowers were used in the show’s set design. A black backdrop, an avian mural, and candles heightened the atmosphere of the occasion.
The Fashion Design Council of India has gathered 16 designers for the 16th India Couture Week, where each will present a collection in New Delhi with the Taj Palace serving as the main venue. The fashion week, which is sponsored by Hyundai, lasts from July 25 to August 2.
