The fourth edition of Texhibition Istanbul Fabric, Yarn and Textile Accessories Fair, which took place from 13 to 15 September at the Istanbul Expo Center, confirmed the successful course of the fair, which was organised for the first time in March 2022. Texhibition has gained a firm place in the international calendar and is now an integral part of the global trade fair scene. 20,354 people from 112 countries came to view the collections of 444 exhibitors, who presented their products on around 15,000 square
meters in three exhibition halls. In addition to Türkiye, 4,091 buyers came from UK, Germany, Spain, Poland, Greece, USA, Dominique Republic, Columbia, Russia, Ukraine and Middle East. This is a new visitor record with a significant increase of 43.7% international visitors and almost 10% visitor increase in total compared to March 2023.

Global hub

Ahmet Öksüz, Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Textile Exporters Association (ITHIB), said ‘’Turkish exports recorded a volume of USD 123.4 billion in the first half of this year. This means that the Turkish textile industry, as the fifth largest supplier in the world and the second largest supplier in the EU, can hold its own in a difficult global market environment. With a volume of 31billion Euros, the textile and apparel industry is the second largest exporter in the country. Türkiye accounts for about 3.5 per cent of global textile exports, and 16 per cent of imports into the EU come from here. There
are reasons for this: Türkiye is one of the few countries that covers the entire value chain. As one of the most important players in the global textile market, Türkiye is home to around 20,000 companies with 1.1 million employees, including one of the largest denim producers in the world. Turkish fabrics and
textile accessories are in demand worldwide thanks to their high quality, innovation and commitment to sustainability in production. Textile exports reached USD 6 billion in the first half of 2023’’.

“The leading manufacturers of the yarn industry will be part of Texhibition İstanbul which will be held on 6 – 8 March 2024.”

M. Fatih BİLİCİ, vice president of the board of the Istanbul Textile Exporters Association (ITHIB) and president of the Texhibition Istanbul Executive Committee said: “We received positive feedback in terms of exhibitors and visitors of our fair, which we organized for the fourth time in September. Texhibition Istanbul contributes to the sector’s value added production, branding, quality production, increased investment and export. Texhibition Istanbul as a brand fair is growing up for the next time. On March we plan to expand the exhibition area to 5 halls, one hall will be reserved for the yarn product group.”

Intense demand and satisfied faces

A lively business atmosphere prevailed at the Istanbul Expo Center over all three days of the fair. In addition to well-known market giants such as Almoda, Bahariye, Bossa, BTD, Can Textile, Iskur, Kipaş, Menderes, Sasa, Söktaş and Yünsa, a large number of other efficient export-oriented companies from the segments of textiles (woven fabrics, knitwear), ingredients, prints, yarns, artificial leather and fibres presented themselves. Organised by the Istanbul Textile Exporters’ Association (ITHIB) with the support of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC), the fair thus covered all relevant sourcing sectors of the international textile industry.

The exhibitors were extremely satisfied with the response and the course of the fair. Texhibition is internationally competitive and fully fulfils its task of providing targeted and systematic support to the Turkish textile industry in its export business.

Osman Yildiz, sales marketing manager of Cotton Fabric says the fair has become an important player in the international trade fair scene: “It was a very good fair this time. Many buyers from Russia came, but also from other European countries. We were able to welcome customers from Holland, Germany and Spain. We also participated in the previous season and Texhibition has improved this season.

Canan Yüksel Özcan, sales manager of Bossa, highlights the Texhibition’s extensive range of products: “The number of visitors was very high. The buyers came mainly from Russia, Azerbaijan, Italy and England. The exhibition offers a great variety and includes products from different areas, from denim to knitwear. Türkiye is a very important country internationally in terms of textile production. From this point of view, we can say that the exhibition makes a significant contribution to supporting the Turkish textile industry.”

International visitors came from abroad, the largest proportion from the EU with Western Europe from Spain, Germany, the UK, France, Greece, Eastern European countries such as Poland,Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon. Guiding theme sustainability

The claim “United For Climate In Textiles” refers to the collective effort within the textile industry to effectively address the environmental impacts and challenges associated with climate change. Texhibition Autumn/Winter 2024-25 is also themed “United For Climate In Textiles” and aims to inspire action and foster a sense of shared responsibility for the future of our planet and future generations. For Texhibition, the focus is on participants meeting sustainable criteria. For this reason, the limited exhibition space will only be allocated to those who meet precisely these criteria.

Trend scouts

Texhibition also showcased the latest fashion trends for autumn/winter 2024-2025 in the Trend Area, which serves as a showcase for the fair. Curated by internationally renowned Turkish designer Idil Tarzi, exhibitors and visitors found inspiration for innovative developments in fashion production, with a special focus on sustainability. Thematically, the Trend Area was divided into Reconceptual Beauté (alternative well-being), Mindful Escapes (wellness), Serenity (natural and organic textiles in a tranquil ambience), Eco Revolution (desire for a life in harmony with our planet), LuminoNoctris (glitter and shine), Digital Uprise (intelligent and functional textiles), Environmental Activism (call for environmental activism), Vanguard Movement (new materials and new aesthetics). All areas addressed the relationship between people and the environment.
