Reena Ahluwalia, a diamond and gemstone artist, has produced the first Koh-i-Noor diamond digital art NFT in history. Ahluwalia painted the historical diamond for two years before using blockchain technology to produce an accessible NFT.

Ahluwalia revealed the painting on Facebook and declared, “Two years ago when I started the painting, I was nowhere close. “I have finally finished painting the Koh-i-Noor, the diamond with the most renowned name in the world. “A dream realised!”

According to a statement made on the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s website, the project was created to combine art, jewellery heritage, and technology. A limited edition of 50 NFTs of the diamond artwork by Ahluwalia are now available for purchase through the usage of a cryptocurrency wallet like Metamask or Ethereum.

Ahluwalia stated her motivation for making a digital artwork as “I want to preserve the legend and legacy of Koh-i-Noor through my painting and imprint it on the blockchain for perpetuity as a digital artwork,” according to the GJEPC. “I want to return the Koh-i-noor to everyone, to everyone who believes they are entitled to it… My conception of the Koh-i-Noor diamond is based on my imagination, my knowledge of diamonds, and how light might reflect on its facets given its geometry. But more than anything, I wanted to convey its genuine meaning.
