Price of Sewing Machine in Turkey Drops to $698 per Unit

Turkey Industrial Sewing Machine Import Price in July 2023

In July 2023, the industrial sewing machine price stood at $698 per unit (CIF, Turkey), leveling off at the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 30% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $922 per unit in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,702 per unit), while the price for China ($504 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Turkey Industrial Sewing Machine Import Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In July 2023, the product with the highest price was industrial automatic sewing machines ($1,194 per unit), while the price for industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) stood at $621 per unit.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) (+0.2%).

Turkey Industrial Sewing Machine Imports

In July 2023, approximately 22K units of industrial sewing machines were imported into Turkey; increasing by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 with an increase of 95% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of 32K units. From January 2023 to July 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, industrial sewing machine imports skyrocketed to $15M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 with an increase of 39% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $21M. From January 2023 to July 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Turkey Industrial Sewing Machine Imports by Type

In July 2023, industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) (19K units) constituted the largest type of industrial sewing machine supplied to Turkey, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, industrial automatic sewing machines (2.9K units), sixfold.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) was relatively modest.

In value terms, industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) ($12M) constituted the largest type of industrial sewing machine supplied to Turkey, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by industrial automatic sewing machines ($3.5M), with a 23% share of total imports.

Turkey Industrial Sewing Machine Imports by Country

In July 2023, China (19K units) constituted the largest industrial sewing machine supplier to Turkey, with a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial sewing machine imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (1.1K units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Vietnam (788 units), with a 3.6% share.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Japan (+3.0% per month) and Vietnam (+0.8% per month).

In value terms, China ($9.6M) constituted the largest supplier of industrial sewing machine to Turkey, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($1.8M), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 10% share. From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Japan (+2.0% per month) and the Czech Republic (+8.7% per month).
