Nikwax’s PFAS-free industrial solutions were showcased at the ISPO Munich tradeshow from December 3–5. Products that integrated Nikwax’s high-performing technology saw Outdoor Research, Mammut, and BLACKYAK receive the coveted ISPO Design Award.
The first technical outdoor clothing to be certified carbon-neutral, Outdoor Research’s Foray and Aspire 3L jackets emphasize high-performing waterproofing with Nikwax’s Direct—dry factory-applied DWR—and recycled materials.
Alex Lauver, Senior Director of Materials Innovations and Sustainability, stated, “Nikwax Direct. Dry allowed us to give our customers a real alternative to traditional DWR treatments, giving them a high-performing solution that fits with the growing demand for environmentally responsible products.”
Direct.Dry by Nikwax receives the highest possible score of 95–100 on the AATCC22 Spray Rating Test. A factory-applied industrial DWR solution from Direct.Dry removes persistent PFAS while withstanding the rigors of outdoor consumers. Additionally, Direct.Dry has a high wash durability rating; it remains at 100 after five washes, 80 after twenty, and will return to 100 after being treated with waterproofers and Nikwax technical washes.
The Watusi Hooded Expedition Down Jacket and Watusi G2 Expedition Suit from BLACKYAK, as well as the Eiger Nordwand Pro Down IN Hooded Parka from Mammut, were also recognized with ISPO awards. The products use Nikwax Hydrophobic Down (NHD), the best-performing, PFAS-free waterproof down fill in the market.
