Moscow Fashion Week is reinforcing its position as a global fashion platform, bringing together over 200 brands in Moscow while spotlighting a major industry shift towards local identity, craftsmanship, and narrative-driven design.

Running through March 19, the event reflects a clear departure from homogenised global fashion, instead celebrating regional aesthetics and cultural storytelling. Designers are increasingly focusing on structure, fabric innovation, and artisanal detailing to create distinctive visual languages.

Among the standout showcases, Capparel explored texture-led design, elevating pleats and gathers into core design elements. Sol Selivanova Olga’s “Inside Out” collection reinterpreted traditional tailoring by exposing internal construction, while Li Lab drew inspiration from late 1980s power dressing. Tatiana Kotova presented her “Air” collection, blending lightweight fabrics with retro-futuristic motifs.

Opening day highlights included the 404 Not Found label, which experimented with contrasting materials such as silk and leather, alongside sculptural silhouettes. Alena Feliksova emphasised that her designs reflect the evolving mindset of the modern Russian woman.

Craftsmanship remained a central theme, with Stas Lopatkin showcasing intricate embroidery inspired by fine porcelain, while MMÉ merged academic tailoring with contemporary aesthetics.

The international programme continues to strengthen the event’s global relevance. Ding Jie, known for her work at the Beijing Winter Olympics, presented her label D.Martina Queen, alongside Spain-based Madame & Mister Sibarita, Turkish designer Emre Erdemoğlu, and Armenian brands The Wave and Dajeli.

Commenting on the platform’s significance, Anjel Darchinyan highlighted that such events foster global dialogue, support emerging talent, and strengthen cross-market collaborations.

As the fashion industry evolves, Moscow Fashion Week continues to bridge global creativity with local narratives, positioning itself as a key driver in shaping contemporary fashion discourse.
