Molteni Group Presents Its 2025 Sustainability Report

Molteni Group has presented its 2025 Group Sustainability Report, outlining its progress across environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities. The report covers Molteni&C, UniFor, Citterio and the Group’s international subsidiaries in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and France.

The report reflects the Group’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its business strategy and monitor its ESG objectives annually.

Molteni Group is an independent Italian industrial group in the high-end furniture sector. It comprises three companies with expertise across different segments. Molteni&C focuses on residential furnishings and contract projects, while UniFor designs and manufactures solutions for work environments. Citterio specialises in partition systems and technical furnishings for professional and public spaces. Together, the brands deliver design solutions that combine quality, functionality and aesthetics.

“Our goal is ambitious: to combine the excellence of Italian design with responsibility
towards people, the environment and communities, strengthening our contribution to the
transition towards more sustainable development models .” — Marco Piscitelli , CEO ,
Molteni Group

To strengthen its sustainability efforts, Molteni Group has established a Group Sustainability Committee. The Committee supports the integration of sustainability into strategic decisions and monitors progress across key functions, including Finance, Communications, Production, Procurement and Supply Chain Operations. It also helps coordinate initiatives across the Group.

Molteni Group’s 2025 ESG Progress

The ESG framework covers environmental, social and governance performance. For Molteni Group, it provides a structure to monitor progress and integrate sustainability principles into business activities and decision-making.

Environment: Renewable Energy and Waste Recovery

In 2025, the Group strengthened its energy transition through investments aimed at reducing emissions and increasing renewable energy use.

A key development was the installation of photovoltaic systems at its three production sites in Mesero, Turate and Sirone, with a combined capacity of 3 MWh. These systems aim to increase in-house renewable energy generation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

As a result, self-generated energy covered 57.5% of the production sites’ energy needs, marking a 69% increase compared with 2024. These installations complement the existing photovoltaic system at the Giussano headquarters, which has a nominal capacity of 3.12 MWh. Overall, the Group’s self-generation reached 5,430 MWh of electricity.

In addition, Molteni Group signed agreements to purchase more than 2.5 MWh of renewable electricity certified through Guarantees of Origin (GOs). Together, on-site generation and certified green electricity support its climate strategy.

The Group aims to increase the share of renewable electricity used across its operations over the medium and long term. Its goal is to move towards running its production division entirely on electricity from renewable sources.

Waste management also remained a key priority. In 2025, the Group achieved a waste recovery rate of 97.9%, reflecting its efforts to improve resource efficiency and reduce disposal.

Social: People and Community Initiatives

Molteni Group’s total workforce reached 1,224 employees in 2025, an increase of 7.4% compared with 2024.

The Group continues to invest in employee training and skills development. It also follows policies and procedures that support an inclusive and respectful workplace. Beyond its workforce, the company supports cultural and charitable initiatives within local communities.

Governance: Integrating Sustainability into Decisions

The Group monitors environmental indicators to track its performance and support continuous improvement. Its Board of Directors oversees sustainability reporting, while the Group Sustainability Committee provides strategic direction and coordinates operational activities.

This structure aims to ensure that sustainability remains part of the Group’s decision-making processes and business priorities.

Ecodesign, Product Durability and Resource Efficiency

Molteni Group continues to develop its product design processes and environmental assessment methods. It has integrated ecodesign principles, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and structured material selection criteria into its approach.

A digital platform now supports these activities across the Group. An independent third party has verified the platform for producing LCA studies and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

The Group has also expanded its product environmental reporting, with more than 16 EPDs completed. This initiative supports its wider digitalisation efforts by improving how it collects, manages and verifies environmental data throughout product life cycles.

Through these measures, Molteni Group aims to assess and reduce the environmental impact of its products wherever technically and economically feasible. The approach also promotes efficient resource use, product quality and durability, as well as material recovery and recycling at the end of a product’s life, depending on the available recovery systems.

For three generations, the Group has invested in materials, technologies and production processes to maintain quality standards, extend product life and improve manufacturing efficiency.

It also tracks environmental performance through specific indicators and metrics. These help assess progress, identify areas for improvement and align activities with management objectives and sustainability commitments.

A Value Chain Approach to Sustainability

Molteni Group’s focus on long-lasting products and efficient resource use extends across its value chain. This includes its production facilities, business partners and suppliers. The Group promotes requirements and standards that encourage continuous improvement in environmental, social and governance performance.

Furthermore, as a founding member, Molteni Group supports the EPR Consortium promoted by FederlegnoArredo. The consortium aims to establish an organised system for managing furniture products at the end of their useful life.

Through its 2025 Sustainability Report, Molteni Group outlines its continued efforts to improve environmental performance, support its people and strengthen responsible practices across its operations and value chain.
