MAS Holdings, a leading global apparel and textile manufacturing conglomerate, has pledged to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain by 2048. The commitment follows the validation of its Net-Zero and Near-Term targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), positioning MAS as part of the global movement for climate action.

The SBTi approval confirms that MAS’ roadmap aligns with the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, designed to restrict global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Suren Fernando, CEO of MAS Holdings, stated, “The approval of our Net-Zero and Near-Term goals by SBTi is pivotal to our climate journey and an affirmation of the real action we are taking to protect the planet while safeguarding our business and the livelihoods within our ecosystem.”

Climate Targets:

  • Net Zero Goal: Achieve full GHG neutrality by 2048 across all operations.

  • Near-Term (by 2030): Cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% and Scope 3 emissions by 46.2%, from a 2019 baseline.

  • Long-Term (by 2040–2048): Reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2040 and Scope 3 by 90% by 2048.

These goals include land-related emissions and bioenergy feedstocks, covering all apparel businesses under the group.

The initiative is part of the MAS Plan for Change, which sets measurable targets under three pillars: Product, Lives, and Planet. The strategy seeks to redesign sustainable products, positively impact communities, and reduce environmental footprint.

The SBTi—a collaboration between CDP, UN Global Compact, We Mean Business Coalition, WRI, and WWF—provides global frameworks that guide companies to align with science-based climate targets.

By securing SBTi validation, MAS strengthens its role in pioneering sustainable apparel manufacturing and advancing climate resilience within the global fashion industry.
