For the second year in a row, the IIFA will hold its 23rd edition on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi’s leading cultural authority, the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), in collaboration with Miral, the city’s premier provider of engaging destinations and activities, is set to organize the event on May 26 and 27. For the seventh time running, NEXA will serve as the event’s title sponsor.

The fashion segment curated by NEXA during IIFA weekend is a defining feature, showcasing the brand’s key principles of creation and inspiration. This year, the much-awaited fashion extravaganza will feature the renowned designer Manish Malhotra, renowned for his opulent and larger-than-life glamour. Another highlight of the event will be the presentation of a special IIFA award to the designer, recognizing his remarkable contribution to fashion and cinema. With 33 years of experience in the apparel industry, Malhotra has played a crucial role in shaping the visual aesthetics of Hindi cinema. In fact, he introduced the concept of style in costume design through his work in the musical romance Rangeela directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

28 years have passed since the 1995 movie, but Urmila Matondkar’s skater dresses, adorable as a button berets, unexpectedly sexy high-waist jeans, and seductive oversized man shirts are still in style.

Many foreign fashion companies entered the Indian market because to Manish’s avant-garde display of athletic clothing and activewear in Karan Johar’s 1998 film, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” starring Shah Rukh, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji.

In 2005, Manish Malhotra launched his own brand, solidifying his position as both a businessman and stylist. His couture line, “Manish Malhotra,” is a favourite among many Bollywood A-listers and celebrities from various industries alike, particularly for high-profile events like weddings and red-carpet galas. With a career spanning three decades, Manish has been instrumental in revolutionizing fashion, both on and off the screen, with acclaimed looks such as Priyanka Chopra’s unforgettable runaway bride outfit from Anjaana Anjaani and Kareena Kapoor’s iconic Patiala salwar and T-shirt ensemble from Jab We Met. Additionally, he has created unique pieces like shimmering sarees paired with bralettes and chikankari lehengas featuring cut-away infinity blouses.

The assortment embodies the fusion of traditional and modern elements to create a novel and inventive output. “We are eager to display our range at IIFA Rocks 2023 since this partnership corresponds with our shared NEXA and innovation, advancement, and creativity,” Manish claims.

IIFA will take place at the Etihad Arena, which is the foremost contemporary indoor entertainment complex in the Middle East, set amidst the scenic Yas Bay Waterfront.
