Lenzing, a global leader in cellulosic fibers, has launched TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100, a new fiber designed to replicate natural irregularities. Using Variocut technology, the fiber has controlled length variations (10–28 mm) that create subtle, natural textures in fabrics. This innovation responds to market demand for authentic aesthetics and responsible production, initially targeting denim and expanding to woven and home textiles in 2026.
Crafting Natural Imperfections
TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100 retains the environmental benefits and consistent quality of LENZING™ fibers. Its controlled fiber length variations produce natural-looking irregularities, while a matte finish enhances opaque textures. The fiber maintains softness but with a less fluid hand feel, ideal for premium denim without washdown shade issues or unnatural draping.
Leadership Perspective
“TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100 redefines what regenerated fibers can achieve,” said Rohit Aggarwal, CEO, Lenzing Group. “It addresses the growing demand for natural aesthetics and sustainable solutions, helping partners thrive while improving resource efficiency.”
Performance in Denim and Beyond
HV100 performs well in denim applications, enabling warp yarns to achieve authentic texture. Blending trials with standard Lyocell or cotton show versatile textures and hand-feels suitable for structured apparel or soft home textiles. The fibers retain moisture control and biodegradability, key characteristics of TENCEL™ fibers.
Sustainable Fiber Solution
“TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100 reduces environmental impact while offering creative design flexibility,” said Krishna Manda, VP Corporate Sustainability, Lenzing. Closed-loop production cuts water use and carbon emissions by at least 50% compared to generic Lyocell.
Collaborative Innovation for Textile Applications
“Controlled fiber variation allows new yarns and fabrics,” explained Florian Heubrandner, VP Global Business Management Textiles, Lenzing. HV100 opens opportunities for apparel, home textiles, and denim, enabling co-creation with mill partners to differentiate products in the market.
Showcase at Kingpins Amsterdam
Lenzing will present TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100 at Kingpins Amsterdam, October 15–16, alongside approximately 20 mill partners showcasing fabrics made with the fiber. Attendees can explore applications, textures, and sustainable benefits first-hand. Additional details and application support are available on Lenzing Pro (lenzingpro.com).
