Karleo Launches Reverie, a Couture Collection Inspired by Ballet
The 15-piece collection marks 60 years of The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance, bringing the grace of dance into bridal and eveningwear.
Karleo has launched Reverie, a couture collection inspired by the grace, beauty and discipline of ballet. Presented in association with The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance, the collection celebrates the institution’s 60-year journey of preserving classical ballet and Western dance.
Ballet expresses emotion through movement, posture and precision. Behind every graceful performance are years of practice and dedication. These qualities inspire Karleo Reverie, which brings the world of dance into contemporary bridal and eveningwear.
The collection features 15 distinct ensembles. It also celebrates the legacy of The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance. Tushna Dallas founded the school in 1966. Today, her daughter, Khushcheher Dallas, leads the institution. Over six decades, the school has trained generations of dancers and kept the traditions of classical ballet and Western dance alive.
Ballet Shapes the Couture Designs
The collection draws inspiration from ballet tutus and the graceful shapes of dancers. It uses layers of tulle, satin and crinoline to create a range of looks. These include voluminous ball gowns, fit-and-flare styles and A-line silhouettes.
Along with its signature embroidery and crystal details, Karleo explores new techniques. These include heat-moulded fabrics, laser-cut metalwork and fishnet details. Feathers, tassels and textures made with safety pins add further character to the designs.
As a result, the collection moves beyond traditional bridal details. It explores new shapes and textures while keeping the romance and fine craftsmanship of couture.
A Ballet Performance to Unveil the Collection
Instead of a conventional runway show, Karleo will present the collection through a ballet performance. Seven custom ensembles have been created for the ballerinas. Each design includes personal motifs shared by the dancers.
Leon, Co-founder and Designer, said, “The collection will be unveiled through a ballet performance rather than a conventional runway presentation, bringing the inspiration behind the designs directly into the showcase. Seven bespoke ensembles have been created for the performing ballerinas, each incorporating personal motifs shared by the dancers”
Karan Berry, Creative Director at Karleo, said, “For Karleo Reverie, we wanted each ballerina to see a part of her own story reflected in what she wears. The personal motifs shared by the dancers allowed us to bring that individuality into the designs, making each ensemble more than just a couture creation. It became our way of honouring the art of ballet and the people who have dedicated themselves to keeping it alive.”
The performance outfits also account for the movement and flexibility that ballet requires. Their inner structures include stretch, while adjustable closures help dancers move with ease. At the same time, the garments retain the structure and finish of couture.
Ballerina, fashion personality and event host Sukanya Shah will also bring her experience in dance and fashion to the showcase.
Celebrating Six Decades of Dance and Creativity
For Karleo, Reverie offers a chance to explore new ideas in bridal and eveningwear through another art form. For the school, the collaboration marks an important milestone in its journey of preserving dance traditions.
Together, the two bring ballet and couture into one showcase. The collection honours the dancers who have carried the art form forward while presenting its beauty through contemporary design.
With Reverie, Karleo celebrates the connection between movement, creativity and craftsmanship as The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance marks 60 years of dance education and cultural preservation.
