JD Institute of Fashion Technology has successfully concluded the Mumbai edition of the JD Design Awards 2026, marking four days of creativity, innovation and design excellence. The event brought together students, industry professionals, buyers and design enthusiasts to celebrate emerging talent and showcase the next generation of designers.
The event commenced with The Stock Room, an exhibition that enabled young designers to sell their creations while gaining valuable experience in the commercial aspects of the design business. Renowned designer and filmmaker Mozez Singh also interacted with students, sharing insights from his creative journey and encouraging them to embrace individuality. Speaking on self-expression, he remarked, “Fashion helps you express yourself and figure out who you are.”
On 22 July, the institute organised a certificate felicitation ceremony to recognise students for their exceptional projects and creative achievements.
The celebrations culminated on 23 July with a grand fashion show at St. Andrews Auditorium, directed by internationally acclaimed fashion choreographer Marc Robinson. The evening featured keynote sessions by celebrity fashion designer Juhi Shah, who highlighted the ever-evolving nature of fashion by stating, “Every month is a new season for fashion.” Sustainable entrepreneur and Jeevit Founder Henna Shah also addressed the audience, emphasising that innovation and embracing challenges are central to entrepreneurship.
The finale showcased 37 collections created by finalist students, blending Indian art and craft traditions with contemporary design aesthetics. Each collection reflected storytelling, craftsmanship and innovation, supported through collaborations with Spotlight and Charter. The event welcomed 1,334 participants, strengthening its role as a platform connecting emerging designers with the fashion industry.
The awards were organised under the guidance of Trustee Yogesh Dalal and Director Dr. Payal Dalal, whose vision continues to support the development of future design professionals.
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the Mumbai edition, Rinesh Dalal, Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said, “JD Design Awards is a celebration of our students’ creativity, passion, and journey as emerging designers. The Mumbai edition provided the opportunity to present months of hard work on a professional platform and take an important step in their creative journey. Seeing them become confident young designers is immensely rewarding for all of us at JD Institute of Fashion Technology. My message to every aspiring designer is: enjoy the process, believe in your ideas and never stop creating.”
For the past 27 years, the JD Design Awards has provided emerging designers with a platform to showcase their talent, gain industry exposure and build meaningful professional connections.
