In partnership with the UNESCO Chair for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri campus is hosting the International Gender Tech Conference starting on January 16 at Amrita.
The Under-Secretary-General and United Nations Tech Envoy, Dr. Amandeep Gill, will open the conference, which is being held at the Amritapuri campus. Prominent figures such as Dr. Tim Curtis, Director of the UNESCO South Asia Regional Office; Dr. Akhilesh Gupta, Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; and Uma Mahadevan, Additional Chief Secretary, Karnataka, will participate in a number of sessions during the four-day international conference.
Other major sponsors of the international conference include the SSIT Kerala Chapter and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Society on Social Implications of Technology (IEEE-SSIT).
An worldwide hackathon was held as part of the conference, and more than 250 people participated. Forty-five teams were chosen to compete out of about 600 registrations.
