Galeries Lafayette Mumbai Curates A/W 2026 Occasion Wardrobe
The luxury department store launches ‘A Grand Affair’, bringing together global fashion, destination-led edits, Made-to-Measure and beauty experiences.
A New Season of Occasion Dressing
Galeries Lafayette Mumbai is marking the start of its Autumn/Winter 2026 season with the inaugural weekend of ‘A Grand Affair’, taking place on 5th and 6th September. Located on the second floor of the Kala Ghoda flagship, the month-long occasionwear pop-up brings together elevated menswear and womenswear, accessories, beauty and Made-to-Measure services.
Designed around the diverse ways modern India celebrates, the edit offers customers an opportunity to discover and build complete looks for weddings, destination celebrations, festive gatherings and evening occasions.
As India’s approach to celebration continues to evolve, occasion dressing is becoming increasingly individual and expressive. Luxury consumers are seeking greater choice, personalisation and access to international fashion within India. Galeries Lafayette Mumbai addresses this demand through a broad portfolio of global brands, contemporary labels and Indian designers, supported by curation and fashion expertise.
Sathyajit Radhakrishnan, CEO, Galeries Lafayette India & International Mono Brands, at ABFRL, says, “Discovery has always been central to the Galeries Lafayette proposition, bringing together over 250 brands with 70% making their India debut through the store. This Autumn/Winter, we strengthen this further with Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Giuseppe Zanotti, The Attico, K-Way and Rains, all exclusive to Galeries Lafayette India, alongside Rick Owens making its India debut with us. These globally sought-after brands add further depth to the store’s wider mix of international brands, contemporary labels and Indian designers, adding new dimensions to our portfolio giving consumers greater choice across different styles, sensibilities and occasions.”
Collaboration with Tarun Tahiliani
A key highlight of the season is Galeries Lafayette Mumbai’s collaboration with renowned Indian couturier and fashion icon Tarun Tahiliani.
Known for shaping contemporary Indian occasionwear, Tahiliani’s design language brings together craftsmanship, drape and structure, combining India’s heritage with a contemporary aesthetic.
Three Fashion Stories for the Occasion Wardrobe
Galeries Lafayette Mumbai interprets occasion dressing through three immersive fashion stories, each offering a distinct visual identity and approach to dressing.
A Royal Affair
‘A Royal Affair’ explores the renewed interest in elevated evening dressing, reflecting a growing demand for expressive alternatives to conventional formalwear.
The A/W 2026 edit features classic evening silhouettes, lustrous fabrics, rich textures, statement proportions, floor-length gowns, sculpted cocktail dresses, draped forms and intricate embellishments.
Elie Saab, Carolina Herrera, Self-Portrait, Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen bring distinct interpretations to the women’s evening wardrobe.
For men, ‘Over the White Shirt’ reimagines one of menswear’s most enduring foundations as a canvas for layering. Alexander McQueen, Gabriela Hearst, Auralee, Dries Van Noten, Dunhill, Rick Owens, Etro, Maison Margiela and Ralph Lauren Purple Label feature in the edit, creating looks suited to cocktails, soirées and after-parties.
In Full Bloom
‘In Full Bloom’ takes a more playful and expressive approach, particularly suited to pre-wedding festivities and bachelor and bachelorette celebrations.
Inspired by nature, the edit explores botanical prints, animal motifs and earthy elegance through a contemporary lens. Colour palettes range from soft to vivid tones, while florals move beyond their traditional spring-summer association into richer and more intricate interpretations.
For women, Alemais, La DoubleJ, Gabriela Hearst, Farm Rio and Simkhai bring the theme to life through flowing dresses and expressive prints. Bode, Casablanca and JW Anderson interpret the mood for men through patterned shirts and relaxed silhouettes.
The Destination Edit
‘The Destination Edit’ explores four destinations that continue to appeal to today’s brides and grooms: Greece, Rajasthan, Lake Como and the Maldives.
Greece is represented through crisp whites, shades of blue, airy linens and resort silhouettes. Rajasthan draws on rich prints, royal colours and artisanal embroidery. Lake Como combines elegant neutrals, florals and sophisticated eveningwear, while the Maldives brings tropical prints, breezy co-ordinates and contemporary resortwear.
Pucci, Jacquemus, Missoni, Cult Gaia, Camilla, Dries Van Noten, Bode and Casablanca feature across the four destination edits.
Made-to-Measure, Distinctly You by Design
Galeries Lafayette Mumbai is also introducing its first Made-to-Measure offering, bringing master tailors from Lardini, van Laack, Jacob Cohën and 100 Hands to India.
The three-day experience gives customers an opportunity to explore the nuances of M-T-M tailoring, from fabric selection and proportions to construction and precision fitting.
With the wearer placed at the centre of the process, the service introduces a personalised approach to menswear and highlights the craftsmanship associated with heritage tailoring.
Beauty Completes the Occasion
The occasion experience extends into beauty, with personalised services spanning make-up, fragrance and skincare.
As part of ‘A Grand Affair’, Galeries Lafayette Mumbai brings together beauty experiences from La Prairie, SK-II, Guerlain and Dior, alongside fragrance discovery from Guerlain, Amouage, Armani and Creed.
The offering is designed to complement the occasion wardrobe through a considered journey from skincare and make-up to fragrance, completing the luxury dressing experience for the season.
