UGAM was founded in 2005 by Mr. Padam Sacheti in honor of his late father, Shri Inderchandji Sacheti, and is a sound spectacle that mirrors the core of Indian tradition by fusing classical elegance with modern elements. UGAM, which is run by the Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust, is a monument to a lifelong love of Indian classical culture and a steadfast dedication to its preservation.

In addition to jewelry, Padam Ji had a deep love for classical music, especially Hindustani classical music. As a result, the trust focused on giving renowned artists and their pupils a common platform to communicate their passion for this exquisite art form. Mrs. Manju Padam Sacheti’s motivational remarks are, “My husband’s story is truly an inspiration for all those who strive to achieve greatness through hard work and dedication.”

This concert honors the essence of music and culture, and UGAM is more than just a performance—it’s a celebration of the cultural tapestry woven by a maestro, an homage to the profound sounds that reverberate throughout Indian history, and evidence of the art form’s enduring passion. It serves as a melodic link between the future generation of musicians and the greats of Hindustani classical music.

The Trust’s extended family now includes Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Ustad Zakir Hussain, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shri Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Arvind Parikh, Padma Bhushan Shri Rajan, Sajan Mishra, and numerous others. Over the years, UGAM guests have had the good fortune to view the creations of these internationally recognized luminaries. UGAM takes satisfaction in serving as a venue for the meeting of such greats, fostering the next wave of musicians and honoring the heritage of Hindustani classical music.

A highly anticipated highlight on the classical music calendar, this event has established an outstanding reputation, drawing music enthusiasts, dignitaries, academics, and business professionals each year. Furthermore, a coffee table book that highlights Jaipur Gems’ and Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust’s deep commitment to Hindustani classical music was written and published for UGAM. This endeavor not only demonstrates a strong enthusiasm but also a desire to spread awareness of Indian classical music around the world.

This year, UGAM will be held on November 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Nehru Centre Auditorium in Worli, Mumbai. Indian classical music vocalist and actor Shri Rahul Deshpande will be honored with his presence, which will surely greatly enhance the event. For his performance in Me Vasantrao, Shri Rahul Deshpande has won the Maharashtra State Film Awards, the Filmfare Awards Marathi, and the National Film Award. Additionally, he is the grandson of Shri Vasantrao Deshpande, a renowned vocalist in Hindustani classical music.

Although the concert’s inspiration transcends the stage and acts as a pillar and lighthouse for the future of Indian classical music and cultural legacy, it continues to weave together a symphony of talent, tradition, and cultural depth with each passing year.
