Shao to continue work on eVent’s alpineST and BIO laminates,
grow overall PFAS-free offering
Kansas City, Mo.– Cathy Shao, a textile engineer and R&D leader, has been appointed to the newly created Innovation Director position at eVent® Fabrics, a global pioneer in waterproof and breathable fabric solutions, as part of their efforts to expand their PFAS-free laminate options.
In addition to advancing the development of innovative, sustainable laminates and next-generation fabric technologies, Shao will support the growth and enhancement of the eVent BIO and alpine ST lines. The time is ideal for introducing new high-performance all-weather clothing, footwear, and accessory innovations for outdoor activities like running, biking, skiing, hiking, sailing, hunting, fishing, and golf to the market, as consumer sentiment and international regulations fuel demand for PFAS-free performance laminates.
“We are excited to have Cathy help us achieve our goals of providing the highest-performance fluorine-free fabric technologies that meet or exceed global regulations and customer expectations. She brings a wealth of experience and talent to the eVent team,” said Chad Kelly, President of eVent Fabrics. “Cathy will be a great asset as eVent continues to push the boundaries of what is possible and innovate beyond the status quo. Our mission is clear.”
Cathy has held positions as a senior engineer and R&D leader at several prominent textile companies, including Dupont China, for more than ten years. Her area of expertise is the study and creation of textile yarns and fibers based on various polymers, including PA56, Sorona®, bio-based polymers, and others. Her extensive background in polymer material research, keen awareness of emerging trends, and established network would be extremely beneficial to eVent Fabrics. In addition to investigating new textiles and membrane technologies, Cathy will carry on with the development and growth of eVent BIO and alpineST. She graduated from Donghua University with a master’s degree in polymer material science.
Cathy officially started with eVent Shanghai on Nov. 4, 2024
