On Earth Day 2025, ReCircle is rallying consumers, brands, and communities to confront India’s growing textile waste crisis. With 92 million tonnes of textile waste generated globally each year, the circular economy pioneer is amplifying its mission to build a more sustainable and responsible future.
Aligned with the global Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” ReCircle emphasizes collective action and accountability in reshaping the way society thinks about waste.
“The issue isn’t just textile waste—it’s our mindset. We need to move from linear consumption to circular thinking,” said Rahul Nainani, Co-Founder & CEO of ReCircle.
Key Initiatives This Earth Day:
-
Textile Recovery Facility (TRF), Mumbai:
Launching this year, the TRF aims to significantly increase textile recycling rates in India, which currently sit at just 1% (pre-consumer) and 43% (post-consumer). -
Project Extra Life:
ReCircle’s flagship program transforms used textiles into sustainable business solutions, helping brands minimize environmental impact. -
Dry Waste Programs:
Ongoing recovery of paper, plastic, cardboard, and footwear using smart tech and advanced sorting systems. -
Empowering Informal Waste Workers:
Supporting over 3,500 Safai Saathis with fair wages and formalized jobs, while collaborating with the Waghri community, traditional textile recyclers, for fair trade, dignified work, and social protection schemes like Ayushman Bharat and E-Shram.
ReCircle is urging businesses to act now, with 73% of consumers willing to shift to eco-conscious brands (Nielsen). Brands and organizations can partner with ReCircle for ethical, scalable solutions to close the loop in fashion and reduce textile waste at scale.
