Koya Nyangi, a Broomfield resident originally from Kenya, is passionate about showcasing African fashion to the people of Denver. Nyangi has been studying fashion since she was a teenager and is now a style curator and international sales representative for African fashion brands and designers.

This weekend, Nyangi will be presenting her unique designs at the “Let Me Show You Different – African Designers Runway Show” held at Reelworks venue in Denver. The show will showcase the creations of five designers from Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, and Cote D’Ivoire as they unveil their diverse collections of African-inspired fashion. Along with other events scheduled for the weekend, such as tours of the Denver Art Museum’s Arts of Africa exhibition, Nyangi sees the event as an opportunity to satisfy the Denver community’s yearning for cultural experiences. She expressed that there is a growing demand for an understanding of African culture and fashion among the metropolitan community in Denver. Fashion enthusiasts can also look forward to purchasing unique pieces and
accessories from African designers during the show’s trunk show event at the Clayton Hotel on Sunday, June 4th.

Nyangi hopes this event will make a comeback to the city in the near future. She said that the designers are showcasing their work in an international sphere from Africa to Denver for the first time. She added that there is much significance behind African textiles and designs, which the designers will help people to understand.

It’s clear from Nyangi’s designs that she has a deep-seated love and commitment to representing African-inspired fashion and culture. She believes that the “Let Me Show You Different – African Designers Runway Show” will be a great opportunity for Denver residents and visitors to experience the beauty and diversity of African culture through fashion and design.
