Sotheby’s and De Beers have concluded their 2026 international auction collaboration with a final high jewellery sale in New York, following successful auctions in Hong Kong and Geneva. The closing event featured a curated selection of rare natural diamonds, highlighting exceptional craftsmanship, provenance and rarity.

The New York auction showcased remarkable pieces, including two pear-shaped D-colour diamond rings and an impressive 11.33-carat old-mine brilliant-cut D-colour Type IIa diamond. The sale marked the final chapter of a global series that attracted strong interest from collectors across Asia, Europe and North America.

Throughout the collaboration, the auctions explored the evolving cultural significance of natural diamonds. Beyond their rarity and beauty, diamonds were presented as symbols of heritage, personal expression and enduring value.

The Hong Kong sale featured notable pieces such as a 3.03-carat pear-shaped diamond ring, a pair of brilliant-cut diamond earrings totalling 4.01 carats, and the exceptional De Beers Jwaneng 28.88-carat brilliant-cut D-colour flawless Type IIa diamond.

In Geneva, collectors were drawn to rare stones including a 1.10-carat light pink oval-cut diamond, a 1.06-carat very light pink diamond, and a matched pair of 18.38-carat brilliant-round diamonds, one graded D-colour flawless and the other internally flawless.

The auction series also reflected changing consumer behaviour within the luxury jewellery sector. Increasingly, diamonds are being acquired as personal statements of individuality and achievement, with self-purchasing becoming a significant trend among women globally.

Part of the proceeds from the auctions will support Peace Parks, reinforcing the connection between natural diamonds and the conservation of landscapes and communities linked to their origins.

As the 2026 auction season concludes, De Beers and Sotheby’s have highlighted the enduring appeal of natural diamonds as timeless symbols of craftsmanship, history and contemporary luxury.
