The CPI went up by 22.72% compared to December 2023 and by 62.51% based on twelve-month moving averages. The clothing and footwear sector saw the lowest annual increase at 50.85% and the highest monthly increase at 9.60%. Data was provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat).
In May, Turkey’s consumer price index experienced changes across various sectors. While 23 basic headings decreased and 6 remained unchanged, 114 basic headings saw an increase. The CPI excluding certain items rose by 3.77% monthly and 72.99% annually. This was a significant increase compared to December 2023 and the twelve-month moving averages.
