Circ and Primark Sign Long-Term Recycling Partnership

Circ®, a global textile-to-textile recycling company, has announced a long-term partnership with international fashion retailer Primark to increase the use of recycled fibres in clothing.

Under the agreement, Circ will supply recycled polyester made from textile waste for use in Primark clothing from 2029. The move will support Primark’s efforts to increase circular materials and reduce its dependence on virgin polyester.

The agreement also marks Primark’s first multi-year offtake agreement with a textile-to-textile recycler.

Recycled Polyester from Textile Waste

Circ will produce the recycled polyester at its planned commercial facility. The facility will support Circ’s first industrial-scale textile-to-textile recycling operation.

The company plans to source textile feedstock from locations around the world. This will include both post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste. European textile waste will also form part of the global feedstock supply.

Through this partnership, Circ and Primark aim to support the wider adoption of textile-to-textile recycling within fashion supply chains.

Primark Strengthens Its Circularity Goals

The partnership supports Primark’s Primark Cares strategy, which focuses on keeping clothes and materials in use for longer while reducing waste.

As part of this strategy, Primark has introduced circular design principles into product development through its Circular Product Standard. The retailer also supports reuse and repair initiatives that help customers extend the life of their clothing.

“This partnership with Primark represents exactly the kind of long-term commercial commitment needed to move textile-to-textile recycling from innovation to industry standard,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “When a global fashion retailer commits to integrating recycled materials into future collections, it sends a powerful signal across the industry: the demand is here, the materials are ready, and the opportunity to scale circular material supply chains is real.”

Lynne Walker, Director of Primark Cares said:

“We launched Primark Cares with a focus on improving the quality and longevity of our clothing, and in the process show that clothes made to last longer don’t have to come at a higher price. Since then, we’ve delivered tangible progress, including increasing the use of recycled fibres, introducing products designed to be recycled and enhancing traceability across our supply chain. This partnership is an important milestone in accelerating our ambitions to further embed circularity in our business and help scale innovative textile-to-textile recycling solutions that could play a transformational role in the future of fashion.”

Circ Technology Targets Blended Textiles

Circ’s patented technology focuses on recycling polycotton blended textiles, which remain widely used in the fashion industry and can be difficult to recycle.

The technology separates polyester and cellulose from blended textile waste. Circ can then recover both materials and create new fibres suitable for reintroduction into fashion supply chains.

The partnership with Primark adds a long-term commercial route for recycled polyester made through this process. It also reflects the growing focus on developing textile recycling systems that can handle complex blended materials.
