The glitzy Yu Prize event, which celebrated up-and-coming Chinese fashion designers, marked the beginning of Paris Fashion Week. To make it big in the world’s fashion capital is considered as ‘the next significant step or milestone’ by an increasing number of Chinese designers.

Hundreds of fashionistas attended the first-ever China-France Fashion Week at the China Cultural Centre on Thursday, October 5, 2023, to see incredible shows by Chinese and French designers.

The performances sparked conversation between Chinese and French spectators because they fused classical and contemporary art forms from both cultures.

During Fashion Week, several Chinese designers showcased their heritage by showcasing traditional Chinese patterns and tailoring techniques. Better communication between Chinese and French fashion designers is facilitated by the China-France Fashion Week. Song Dong, the creator of ODI Art, has remarked that Chinese designers are among the best in the world and that there is “unlimited potential for future development” in fashion industry collaboration between China and France.

According to Liu Hong, director of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Paris, this “fashion conversation” will provide more concrete opportunities for collaboration between the two nations’ cultural and fashion sectors.

“Paris is the fashion capital of the world, and it’s the next big step or milestone for Chinese designers,” Wendy Yu, founder of venture capital firm Yu Holdings, said.
