CaratLane Sets Guinness World Record on 18th Anniversary

CaratLane, a Tata Product, has marked its 18th anniversary by achieving an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most people cutting or slicing cake simultaneously online.

The nationwide celebration brought together employees across more than 400 locations, including retail stores, regional offices and fulfilment centres. In total, participants sliced 467 cakes during a synchronised live video conference, celebrating 18 years of the brand’s growth and customer relationships.

CaratLane Celebrates 18 Years of Growth

The milestone reflects CaratLane’s journey and its relationships with more than 3 million customers. Employees, business partners, vendor partners and teams across the organisation joined the virtual celebration.

“Reaching 18 is a monumental moment, shaped entirely by the journey we’ve shared with our 3 Mn+ customers. We have nothing but our heartfelt gratitude for their continued goodwill”, said Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director, CaratLane. He added, “At the same time, everyone in our stores, in our factories, in our fulfilment centres, our business partners, our vendor partners not only contributed but also made this journey hugely exciting and absolutely memorable. There has never been a dull moment as we shaped the jewellery industry into a new age. Therefore, celebrating this special moment alongside our customers, employees, partners, vendors, well-wishers across 400+ locations will forever remain etched in our collective memories, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM title being the icing on the cake!”

How CaratLane Achieved the Record

Participants followed a synchronised process initiated by a central start signal. Each person displayed a commercially available cake to their camera and continued cutting or slicing it for at least 10 seconds.

The team monitored and recorded every video feed across more than 400 screens to verify compliance with the technical requirements. This process supported the verification of the record attempt.

Zero-Food-Waste Commitment

CaratLane also incorporated a zero-food-waste commitment into the celebration. Under a pre-approved food distribution plan, teams shared and consumed all the cakes locally after the event, including with surrounding communities.

The initiative aligned the anniversary celebration with the company’s commitment to responsible practices.

Looking Ahead to CaratLane’s Next Chapter

The record marks a celebratory milestone in CaratLane’s 18-year journey and provides a platform for its next phase of growth. The brand has also announced more than 4,500 new designs across its latest collections.
