Bangalore – 3rd December, 2024: This year’s Black Friday sales (November 27–30, 2024) saw a 17% increase in order volumes over last year’s comparable sales (November 22–25, 2023), according to Unicommerce, one of India’s top e-commerce enablement SaaS platforms. In the same time frame, the gross merchandise value (GMV) increased by more than 24 percent.
Beauty, wellness, and personal care products were among the categories with higher order volumes, up by more than 34% over the previous year’s sales. During this time, the most popular products were cosmetics, deodorants, and perfumes. This season, fashion and accessories saw a YoY growth in e-commerce order volumes of over 20%, with toys and baby products, travel accessories, and children’s clothing taking center stage.
Order volumes for FMCG and agricultural products increased by more than 34% year over year, indicating a strong demand for plant-based nutrition products and nutritious foods. With health gadgets, nutraceuticals, and supplements as the category highlights, the health and pharmaceutical category saw an increase in order volumes of more than 50%.
Order volumes for the home decor category, which has become a popular e-commerce area in recent years, increased by more than 40% year over year during the sale. Products for furnishing and decoration took the lead in this.
This year’s Black Friday sale saw comparable growth for both brand websites and marketplaces. Order volumes for brands increased by more than 17% over the previous year, while marketplaces saw growth of more than 18% over the same time frame.
The increase in the average order value during this year’s Black Friday sale was another intriguing feature.AoV for wearables increased by more than 200% throughout this time. Computers & laptops and apparel & accessories were two other items and categories that had higher AoV growth, with each category seeing an increase of more than 25%. During the Black Friday sale this year, the AoV for other categories, such as home furnishings and furniture, was greater than previous year by more than 24% and 28%, respectively.
