United Colors of Benetton Introduces “Stranger Colors of Benetton” Capsule Collection

United Colors of Benetton has unveiled Stranger Colors of Benetton, a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by the iconic Upside Down universe of Netflix’s global phenomenon, Stranger Things. The launch coincides with the much-anticipated fifth and final season of the series.

A Collaboration Rooted in 1980s Heritage

Developed in close partnership with Stranger Things costume designer Amy Parris, the collection draws heavily from Benetton’s rich 1980s archives. It reimagines vintage silhouettes and colours that reflect both the visual language of the series and the brand’s legacy in knitwear and casual fashion.

According to Parris, the collaboration originated unexpectedly while sourcing authentic 1980s garments at a Los Angeles vintage market. Repeated discoveries of original United Colors of Benetton pieces led to the brand’s inclusion in Season 4, beginning with a striped logo sweatshirt worn by a key character. This initial connection evolved into a deeper creative partnership for Season 5.

Archive Pieces Reinterpreted for Screen and Street

In late 2023, Amy Parris explored Benetton’s historical archives in Treviso, focusing on knitwear that defines the brand’s identity. These explorations inspired a curated capsule featuring reinterpretations of original 1980s designs, some of which appear on-screen in the final season.

Key character looks include:

  • Eleven, wearing a cropped grey polo sweatshirt with matching joggers and red comfort-fit shorts

  • Holly, styled in floral velvet overalls with a heart patch, layered over a colourful knit

  • Erica, featured in a high-neck bomber jacket, an all-over Scottish Terrier print sweater, balloon-fit cotton trousers, and a two-tone backpack

Each piece blends retro styling with modern comfort and wearability.

Campaign Imagery Reflects the Dual Worlds of Stranger Things

The campaign unfolds across two contrasting visual narratives. It begins with a bright, white studio setting reminiscent of Benetton’s iconic advertising language, celebrating diversity and inclusivity. Suddenly, the visuals transition into darkness, symbolising the eerie void of the Upside Down.

After this descent, the protagonists return to light, creating a striking contrast that mirrors the series’ storytelling. The imagery is supported by a suspense-driven short film, enhanced with immersive effects. Iconic 1980s props such as bicycles, arcade machines, and stereos reinforce the nostalgic atmosphere.

A Capsule for the Whole Family

The collection spans womenswear, menswear, and kidswear for ages 6 to 12. It includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, knitwear, and casual essentials in bold colours, expressive graphics, and materials typical of the 1980s.

Each garment features a dedicated Stranger Colors of Benetton logo label. Select pieces customised by Amy Parris carry special archive-inspired labels signed by the costume designer herself.

Shared Values, Shared Storytelling

Beyond aesthetics, the collaboration highlights shared values between Benetton and Stranger Things. Themes such as inclusion, friendship, freedom of expression, and multiculturalism run through both the brand’s identity and the series’ narrative. These values connect fashion and storytelling while bridging past and present.

The capsule also introduces a reworked Benetton logo, designed with graphics inspired by the Upside Down, creating a distinctive visual identity for the collection.

Availability and Upcoming Drop

The Stranger Colors of Benetton capsule is available at select United Colors of Benetton stores and online at in.benetton.com. A second drop, expanding the junior range, is scheduled for 27 February 2026.
