Just days before its highly anticipated Paris Fashion Week show, French luxury powerhouse Balmain has suffered a significant setback. A substantial portion of the brand’s new collection, totalling fifty pieces, has been stolen. The incident came to light after the company’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, was informed of the theft by his driver.

The theft occurred during transport from the airport to Balmain’s headquarters. The vehicle carrying the collection was reportedly hijacked, resulting in the loss of the crucial garments. While thankfully the driver emerged from the ordeal unharmed, the loss of the collection has sent shockwaves through the fashion house.

Rousteing expressed his dismay over the incident, highlighting the immense effort invested by his team, suppliers, and other collaborators in creating the collection. Despite the setback, he affirmed the team’s commitment to recreating the stolen pieces and ensuring the show goes on. He emphasized the disrespect inherent in such an act, particularly given the dedication of everyone involved.

The news has resonated throughout the fashion world, with fellow designer Donatella Versace offering her support and encouragement to Rousteing and his team. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by the fashion industry and the importance of vigilance.
