The “Muraqqa” men’s and women’s couture collection by JJ Valaya was on display on the runway during Hyundai India Couture Week in New Delhi. The designer, who went by the same name, transformed Ottoman patterns into lavish occasion attire during a display in collaboration with American Express.
The brand revealed on Facebook that the inspiration for the Muraqqa collection came from classic Muraqqa albums from the Islamic world. Intricately detailed lehengas portrayed flora and animals, while menswear combined elegant materials with crisp tailoring.
JJ Valaya posted on Facebook that “Isfahan’s magic and splendor are unveiled through intricate Persian miniatures, the rich patterns of Jahjim kilims, and the timeless beauty of regional carpets.” These components have been painstakingly merged to create a compilation that magnificently captures Persia’s majesty. Discover the seamless blending of contemporary style with historical grandeur in each design.
Several of JJ Valaya’s iconic design elements were used in the collection, such as leather belts with circular metal buckles and monochromatic chevron designs. The collection offered a range of outfits for brides, grooms, and wedding guests with a diversified color scheme that included bright reds and pastels.
