Falguni Shane Peacock, a Mumbai-based design label, will return to New York Fashion Week in September after a two-year absence. The firm had previously reduced its foreign footprint in order to zero in on the Indian market, notably the wedding and couture spheres, which are estimated to be worth $50 billion. Luxury Indian bridal gowns can cost up to $25,000, plus designer consultations boosting expenses even higher. Falguni and Shane Peacock, the brand’s creators, have been recognised for pioneering developments in the Indian industry, such as experimenting with styles and adding ivory lehengas to bridal trousseaus.

They are slated to make a comeback during New York Fashion Week in September. The business was founded in 2002 by fashion designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock and showed its initial resort collection at India Fashion Week in 2004. Falguni Shane Peacock immediately received global acclaim, including a quick sell-out at Harrods following their launch at London Fashion Week. The company has also shown their resort collections at fashion weeks in Los Angeles and Miami, and it has a showroom in New York.

In 2015, the designers chose to withdraw from the New York runways in order to enhance their Indian roots and expand their fashion label in India by embracing the couture and bridal industries. According to a 2017 KPMG estimate, India has one of the world’s largest bridal industries, resulting in the Indian bridal sector valued roughly at $50 billion. Luxury Indian bridal gowns range in price from $1,000 to $25,000, with special individual appointments with luxury designers increasing the cost dramatically.
Despite the hefty expenditures, numerous brides and their families are ready to shell out, with KPMG estimating that a wedding will consume one-fifth of an Indian’s lifetime fortune.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s wedding saree is reputedly among the most expensive, reaching more than $100,000. Isha Ambani’s wedding lehenga is said to have cost $12 million.

Falguni Shane Peacock joined the Indian bridal industry to meet this need and consolidate their position in the expanding Indian market. “We took a calculated decision to expand our presence in India in precisely the same way we did internationally,” Peacock explained to WWD. “Our goal was to increase our influence in the rapidly growing market of India and establish ourselves in the haute couture and wedding sectors.” As a result, we have expanded to several regions in India, filming commercials in iconic landmarks such as the Taj Mahal, Lake Palace, Kashmir, and various other destinations. Throughout the last eight years, the vision that drove our return to India has come to fruition.”

Falguni Shane Peacock’s return to New York Fashion Week heralds their comeback to the global scene, where they will present their newest assortment for the global market. The brand is ready to have a huge influence on the fashion world, thanks to their prominent position in the Indian bridal sector and their distinctive combination of cultures in their creations.
