Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (ABFRLBengaluru-based )’s manufacturing company, Fashion Craft Ltd., has received TRUE Zero Waste Gold certification from Green Business Certification Inc. (‘GBCI’).

According to reports, it is the second industrial manufacturing facility in the world and the first in India to acquire this certification.

Facilities that identify, pursue, and attain zero waste targets as well as lower their carbon footprint, assist recycling, and promote prolonged use of products are given the TRUE Zero Waste certification. It recognises and rewards places and facilities that minimise their trash for disposal in landfills, for incineration (waste-to-energy), or for the environment.

Fashion Craft Ltd., a company that promotes sustainable resource management and waste reduction techniques, implements a cutting-edge waste management method. Together, these actions have a favourable impact on the environment, human health, and the economy.

Numerous sustainability initiatives have been put in place at the factory, such as the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle strategy, waste diversion from landfills, sustainable packaging, and procedures including in-house composting, zero-waste purchasing, and hazardous waste prevention.

With an emphasis on operations, ABFRL started its sustainability journey, “ReEarth – For Our Tomorrow,” with the goal of reestablishing the equilibrium between natural resources and commercial ecosystems. While balancing risks and opportunities for all pertinent ESG efforts, the organisation seeks to achieve ambitious sustainability targets and business objectives.

This change will incorporate sustainability into all phases of product development, supply chain management, and end-of-use considerations.

Naresh Tyagi, Chief Sustainability Officer at Aditya Birla Fashion (ABFRL), said on getting this distinguished certification: “ESG considerations are vital for our operational efficiencies to design new items and source resources. The goal of ABFRL’s sustainability vision, “Re-Earth,” is to constantly work to “Regenerate, Restore and Revitalise” the ecosystems and communities that we operate in.

Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan, Managing Director, Southeast Asia and the Middle East of Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) India, stated that Fashion Craft Ltd. “has set a worthy example of how a manufacturing plant can adopt sustainable solutions,” and added, “We are pleased to congratulate the company on achieving TRUE Zero Waste Gold certification for its manufacturing unit.” We hope that many people in India would follow in their footsteps because it is a unique distinction. In order to guarantee the long-term viability of initiatives across the nation, GBCI India is committed to collaborating with organisations.
