Renowned designer Aarti Vijay Gupta made a striking return to London Fashion Week, unveiling her highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2025 collection. Rooted in India’s artistic heritage, the collection masterfully blends traditional storytelling with modern design, featuring intricate prints inspired by Kolkata’s historic Kalighat and Patua art forms.
Reviving Indian Folklore Through Fashion
FW25 is a tribute to India’s rich cultural legacy, reinterpreting the bold lines and vivid narratives of Kalighat and Patua paintings. Gupta collaborated with artisans dedicated to preserving these centuries-old traditions, infusing her signature prints with their artistic expressions. The collection also highlights the lesser-known “Patua Feet” tradition, where folk artists combine visual storytelling with music and lyrical narration.
“The voices of traditional artists often go unheard in the global fashion landscape. Through this collection, I aimed to give them a platform and reframe the conversation around Indian art,” says Aarti Vijay Gupta.
The collection embraces a sophisticated palette of deep indigos, rustic reds, and muted golds, seamlessly integrating mythology into contemporary silhouettes. Hand-painted textiles serve as canvases for these heritage art forms, while structured yet fluid tailoring breathes new life into their storytelling.

Showcasing 35 distinct looks—25 female, 10 male, and several gender-fluid designs—FW25 redefines cultural preservation in fashion.
