Snapdeal’s Swagotsav Sale Sees 59% Growth in Fashion Units as Festive Demand Rises
Snapdeal’s Swagotsav Sale, which began on October 4, has recorded strong festive demand, with fashion units sold growing 59% year-on-year compared with the same sale period last year. The number of fashion buyers also increased by 63%, with Gen Z shoppers leading the growth.
Demand for women’s Western wear and traditional ethnic wear has also risen. This trend highlights how festive shoppers are combining contemporary styles with occasion-led dressing.
Gen Z Drives Festive Fashion Demand
Sales of women’s Western wear, including co-ord sets, T-shirts, jeans and night suits, doubled during the measured period. Sales of women’s salwar suits also doubled, reflecting demand for traditional festive attire.
Together, these trends point to two key drivers of festive shopping. Younger consumers are exploring contemporary styles, while other shoppers are choosing ethnic wear for celebrations.
With Gen Z leading the increase in fashion buyers, Snapdeal’s sale also highlights growing demand for trend-led clothing at accessible prices.
Fashion Demand Grows Beyond Metro Cities
Snapdeal reported that 82% of orders during the sale came from outside metropolitan areas. This underlines the marketplace’s reach across Bharat, where affordable fashion and a wide product assortment remain important to shoppers.
Seller participation has also increased. The number of active transacting fashion sellers grew 94% year-on-year compared with the same sale period last year. Meanwhile, new sellers from smaller cities recorded triple-digit growth.
Cities such as Bhilwara, Meerut, Hosur, Kota, Amroha, Alwar and Solapur are contributing to this momentum. Their participation highlights the expanding opportunities for sellers across India’s online fashion market.
Prepaid Orders Double During the Sale
Prepaid orders doubled during the sale period, adding to the growth in fashion sales and customer numbers. The increase reflects another key development in Snapdeal’s festive shopping performance.
To help sellers prepare for the seasonal surge, Snapdeal has also been working with them through Project Gati. This 45-day acceleration programme supports first-time sellers as they prepare for festive demand.
The programme includes training, AI upgradation, free advertising credits, analytics sharing for relevant assortments and shorter working capital cycles. These measures aim to help sellers improve their readiness and respond to changing customer demand.
Snapdeal Focuses on Affordable Festive Fashion
Achint Setia, CEO of Snapdeal, said: “Gen Z is increasingly buying looks, rather than simply buying clothes for their functional value. From Western wear to ethnicwear and accessories, shoppers are exploring styles that reflect their personality and the occasion. We have organised Swagotsav around this shift, bringing together affordable, trend-led choices that help consumers create their festive looks without stretching their budgets.”
The sale’s performance highlights the role of affordable, trend-led fashion in festive shopping. Growth in fashion units, buyer numbers and seller participation also points to opportunities beyond major metropolitan markets.
