YKK India Begins Construction of New Plant in Southern India
YKK India Private Limited has started construction of its third plant in India. The company held a groundbreaking ceremony on 25 September 2026 at the new site in southern India.
Around 40 people attended the ceremony, including Jin Deguchi, Managing Director, YKK India. The new facility will strengthen YKK’s manufacturing capabilities and support the company’s growing customer base in India and export markets.
New YKK Plant to Support Growing Demand
YKK India will build the new plant at the ORIGINS by Mahindra World City industrial park near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The facility will work alongside YKK’s two existing plants in Haryana.
The new site will bring together YKK technologies and production capabilities. As a result, the company aims to serve both India’s domestic market and export-oriented manufacturing businesses.
Furthermore, YKK plans to create new employment opportunities through the project. The company also expects the facility to support the local community and respond to a wider range of customer requirements.
YKK India Plant Investment and Timeline
YKK will invest USD 150 million in the new facility. The investment covers land, buildings, machinery, equipment and other project costs.
The plant will occupy a land area of 149,936 square metres. Its total building area will cover 74,658 square metres.
Construction is scheduled for completion in February 2028.

Expanding YKK’s Manufacturing Network
The Chennai facility will become YKK India’s third plant in the country. The company currently operates a plant in Bawal, Haryana, while its offices cover several major Indian markets.
YKK India has offices in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Tiruppur, Noida, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Kanpur, Ahmedabad and Kochi.
The company also operates overseas offices in Kathmandu, Nepal; Jordan; and Dubai, UAE.
With the new plant, YKK will expand its production network while strengthening its presence in southern India. In addition, the location will provide a manufacturing base closer to customers and export-oriented businesses in the region.
YKK India Strengthens Local Presence
YKK India established its business in September 1995. The company manufactures and sells fastening products for customers across different markets.
The new Chennai plant represents another step in the company’s long-term investment in India. At the same time, it reflects YKK’s focus on building production capabilities that can support changing customer requirements.
As construction progresses, the facility is expected to add to YKK India’s manufacturing capacity and strengthen its contribution to the Indian fastening products industry.
