Comet Launches Dilli Sneaker Inspired by Delhi
Comet, the homegrown footwear brand known for its design-led sneakers, has introduced Dilli, a new sneaker inspired by Delhi’s architecture, history and distinctive character.
The sneaker translates the city’s architectural identity into a contemporary footwear design. Its details draw from landmarks including the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and the Lotus Temple.
Red Sandstone Shapes the Dilli Sneaker
The design takes its primary visual cue from Delhi’s iconic red sandstone architecture.
The sneaker features an all-over red colour inspired by landmarks such as the Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb. This creates a direct visual connection with some of the city’s most recognisable monuments.
Architectural details continue across the silhouette. Embossed detailing on the sides takes inspiration from the intricate windows of Humayun’s Tomb.
The design translates these patterns into the construction of the sneaker. Meanwhile, the back tab features a cutout inspired by the distinctive form of the Lotus Temple.
Hidden Details Tell Delhi’s Story
Dilli also incorporates details that reveal themselves through closer inspection.
Under the back tab, line art depicts several of Delhi’s iconic monuments. This creates a hidden layer of the city within the sneaker.
The back of the shoe carries a line from renowned poet Mirza Ghalib:
“Ye duniya maano jism hai aur Dilli uski jaan.”
The quote adds a literary connection to the design while reinforcing the relationship between Delhi and its cultural identity.
Delhi-Inspired Unboxing Experience
Comet extends the concept beyond the sneaker itself.
The shoe box follows the same red sandstone-inspired colour palette. It also features illustrations of famous Delhi monuments.
Inside, the butter paper draws inspiration from the walls of Humayun’s Tomb. As a result, the architectural theme continues throughout the unboxing experience.
Limited Launch in Delhi
Dilli will initially be limited to 100 pairs available online. After these pairs sell out, the sneaker will be available exclusively at Comet’s three Delhi stores.
The sneaker launches on 23 September 2026 and is priced at INR 6,299.
With Dilli, Comet combines architecture, history and contemporary footwear design. The result is a sneaker that celebrates Delhi through both visible elements and hidden details.
