Juicy Chemistry Celebrates 12 Years of Honest Skincare, From a Coimbatore Kitchen to Certified Organic Beauty
In 2014, Megha and Pritesh Asher started Juicy Chemistry in a 10 x 10 kitchen in Coimbatore with Rs 5,000, a blender and a question that would shape the brand’s journey: why do products labelled organic contain ingredients that are not?
Pritesh Asher came from a petrochemicals background. When he picked up a product labelled natural and organic and recognised the chemical compounds inside, the couple put it back on the shelf. Megha Asher, meanwhile, had spent years dealing with sensitive and reactive skin while navigating PCOD-related skin concerns. Their experiences shaped Juicy Chemistry’s founding belief that skincare should do what it claims, labels should accurately reflect ingredients, and if a product is called organic, it should be organic.
That philosophy led the brand to take a different approach to natural and organic beauty in India. In 2017, Juicy Chemistry began its journey towards COSMOS V4 certification from Ecocert France, one of the most rigorous certified organic standards globally. The process involved reassessing ingredients, rebuilding the supply chain and ensuring that the soil was conditioned for three years before it could produce fully organic ingredients.
The certification was achieved in 2019 and subsequently became the operating standard governing ingredients, suppliers, formulation decisions and products manufactured at the brand’s Coimbatore facility.
“The certification was not a marketing exercise,” says Pritesh Asher, Co-Founder and CEO. “It was the moment we found out how hard it actually was to do what we had always said we were doing. And we did it anyway.”
Juicy Chemistry began with cold-pressed oils and handmade soaps and has since expanded into a certified organic personal care portfolio spanning face, hair and body care.
In 2023, its Bare With Us campaign featured real, unretouched skin and deliberately avoided filters and digital alteration, reflecting the brand’s philosophy of transparency in its communication.
In 2025, Juicy Actives was launched as India’s first certified organic performance skincare range, combining biocompatible actives with certified organic formulations. The range further demonstrated the brand’s approach to challenging the perception that organic skincare and high-performance formulations need to be separate.
Over the past twelve years, the Indian beauty landscape has evolved significantly, with consumers increasingly examining ingredient lists and questioning claims around natural, clean and organic beauty. Against this backdrop, Juicy Chemistry’s COSMOS V4 certification continues to serve as an independent verification of its organic standards.
Looking ahead, Juicy Actives is expanding, while an AI-based skin analysis tool is in development to bring personalisation to the certified organic skincare category. The brand is also strengthening its international presence across 30-plus countries, with consumers in markets including the UAE, USA, Australia, South Africa and France.
“We have never chased trends. We have built trust,” says Megha Asher, Co-Founder and COO. “Twelve years in, the real celebration is knowing that millions of people trust us with their skin, and that is a responsibility we carry every single day.”
As Juicy Chemistry marks twelve years, the brand continues to build on the philosophy that began in a 10 x 10 kitchen in Coimbatore: that skincare should be honest, transparent and true to its claims. From achieving COSMOS V4 certification in 2019 to expanding into certified organic performance skincare with Juicy Actives, the brand has continued to maintain its founding standards while expanding its product portfolio and global footprint.
Today, with a presence across 30-plus countries, Juicy Chemistry is entering its next phase focused on product innovation, personalisation and international growth, while continuing to build on the principles that shaped its journey.
