TEXPROCIL, in collaboration with EXIM Institute, has launched the Advanced Certificate Programme in International Trade (ACPIT), a major capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening India’s export ecosystem and developing a globally competitive trade workforce.

The programme was formally launched by Nirmala Sitharaman during the TEXPROCIL Export Awards Function held in Mumbai, in the presence of senior government officials, industry leaders, exporters, and trade stakeholders.

Strengthening India’s export capability

ACPIT has been introduced to address a key gap in India’s export growth story: the need for a highly skilled, industry-ready exporter base. While policy frameworks and export promotion measures have evolved, industry stakeholders highlighted the need for structured, practical training in international trade operations.

The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between policy and practice by equipping participants with actionable knowledge in export documentation, compliance frameworks, logistics, trade finance, and global market access strategies.

Industry-driven certification programme

ACPIT is a structured certification programme tailored for exporters, importers, MSMEs, trade professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs. It includes eight specialised modules covering key areas of international trade, including:

  • Export-import documentation
  • Logistics and supply chain management
  • Trade compliance and regulations
  • Trade finance mechanisms
  • Government export incentives and schemes
  • Market access strategies
  • Risk management in global trade
  • Practical trade operations

Unlike traditional academic courses, ACPIT focuses on experiential learning through case studies, real-world business scenarios, expert-led sessions, and interactive modules designed for direct application in business environments.

Focus on MSME empowerment

A key objective of the programme is to strengthen MSME participation in global trade. Many MSMEs face challenges related to compliance, documentation, and limited access to structured trade education.

ACPIT aims to build a skilled talent pool that can improve operational efficiency, reduce trade-related risks, and enhance export readiness across small and medium enterprises.

Alignment with national priorities

The programme aligns with major government initiatives such as the Export Promotion Mission (2025), Foreign Trade Policy provisions, Skill India Mission, and trade facilitation reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business.

By supporting structured skill development, ACPIT contributes to India’s broader goal of building an export-ready workforce and enhancing global trade competitiveness.

Industry and government collaboration

Speaking at the launch, Shri Vijay Agarwal, Chairman of TEXPROCIL, highlighted that India’s export ambitions require both policy support and a skilled exporter ecosystem capable of adapting to global trade dynamics.

Shri Ravi Sam, Vice Chairman of TEXPROCIL, emphasised that capacity building is a critical pillar of export competitiveness, particularly for MSMEs and emerging businesses.

Building a future-ready export ecosystem

ACPIT is an industry-led initiative with no direct financial burden on the government, ensuring accessibility through a nominal fee structure while maintaining sustainability and scalability.

The programme is expected to deliver long-term benefits including improved compliance, better utilisation of export incentives, enhanced MSME participation, and stronger implementation of trade policies at the grassroots level.

As India continues to expand its global trade footprint, initiatives like ACPIT are expected to play a crucial role in developing skilled professionals and strengthening the country’s export competitiveness.
