HV100 fibre has achieved rapid global traction within just six months of its debut, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of next-generation denim materials. Initially introduced at Kingpins Amsterdam in October 2025 with 17 mill partners, the programme has now expanded to a global network spanning nine countries across four continents.

The second edition of the collaborative denim collection introduces 20 additional mill partners from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Mexico, Pakistan, Türkiye and Vietnam. Combined with the original partners from China, Egypt, Pakistan, Spain and Türkiye, this expansion significantly strengthens sourcing capabilities and accessibility for global brands.

From Innovation to Retail Adoption

The fibre’s commercial momentum has been swift. Within six months of its launch, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 denim products reached retail shelves in March 2026 through a major global fashion retailer, even ahead of the official Volume 2 showcase.

This rapid adoption reflects strong industry demand, supported by the fibre’s ability to replicate the authentic, textured aesthetic of cotton denim while maintaining softness and responsible production credentials.

Industry engagement has also accelerated, with new mills and brands actively approaching Lenzing following the initial launch, highlighting growing confidence in the material’s commercial viability.

Advanced Fibre Technology Driving Differentiation

Unlike conventional lyocell, which is primarily used in weft yarns, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 introduces enhanced functionality for warp applications through Lenzing’s Variocut technology. By controlling staple length variation between 10–28 mm, the fibre mimics natural cotton characteristics, delivering:

  • A matte, opaque finish
  • Enhanced wash-down performance
  • Improved structure with retained softness

This innovation addresses longstanding limitations of man-made cellulosic fibres in denim, enabling more authentic visual outcomes while maintaining sustainability advantages.

“MMCF fabrics have historically been limited in replicating the way denim incorporates cotton’s mixed-length fibers into the fabric weave, which is essential for an authentic vintage look,” said David Tring, Denim Head at The Magic Of Denim. “I got a close-up look at TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 at the last Kingpins show and it clearly delivers that visual authenticity, with the added benefit of the soft hand feel that TENCEL™ brings. I’m looking forward to seeing how industry partners have developed it further at Kingpins Amsterdam this April.”

Design Versatility and Performance Expansion

Volume 2 showcases a diverse range of fabric developments, including 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 as well as blended options with cotton and linen. The collection spans lightweight to heavyweight constructions, catering to applications across bottoms, shirts, dresses and full-look denim concepts.

“TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 embodies the authentic matte aesthetic of cotton while maintaining the superior softness and comfort essential to contemporary denim,” said Lucia Rosin, Founder and Head of Design, Meidea. “By eliminating the typical post-wash grayish hue of classic TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 preserves a deep, vibrant indigo, which is ideal for high-contrast and vintage-inspired washes. This innovation gives designers greater flexibility: depending on the desired effect and the final look of the garment, we can choose between the characteristic sheen of classic TENCEL™ Lyocell or the sophisticated matte texture of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100.”

Strong Commercial Momentum

Lenzing has already secured bulk orders for the fibre, underlining its strong market acceptance despite a challenging global environment. Additional mills are also in line for Volume 3, scheduled for debut at Kingpins in October 2026.

“Since its launch in October 2025, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 has generated strong interest among our mill and brand partners. In a very short time, we have already secured bulk orders. It is a meaningful milestone in today’s challenging market environment. The distinctive aesthetics it delivers answer a long-standing market demand, driving rapid adoption of this innovative fiber. When a major global retailer puts the fiber on its shelves within months of launch, you know the market was ready. Volume 3 is already taking shape,” explained Tuncay Kılıçkan, Head of Global Business Development, Denim, Lenzing.

Collaborations and Industry Applications

Early-stage collaborations further highlight the fibre’s versatility. BOSSA and garment manufacturer Rimaks have incorporated TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 into sculptural denim concepts, enabling innovative silhouettes without compromising traditional denim characteristics.

“The integration of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 within BOSSA’s developments has enabled us to push the boundaries of garment form without losing the essence of denim,” added Meir Barbut, Board Member of Rimaks.

Sustainability and Future Outlook

TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 also aligns with increasing industry demand for sustainable materials, offering:

  • Over 50% reduction in carbon footprint and water consumption
  • FSC® or PEFC-certified wood sourcing
  • Closed-loop production with over 99.8% solvent recovery
  • Biodegradable and compostable end-of-life properties

With global fibre demand projected to rise significantly by 2040, innovations such as HV100 are expected to play a critical role in expanding sustainable sourcing options for the denim industry.

The collection will be showcased at Kingpins Amsterdam on April 15–16, 2026, marking the next phase in its global rollout.
