Rieter has successfully completed the acquisition of Barmag as of 2 February 2026. This strategically important acquisition positions Rieter as the world’s leading system provider for natural and synthetic fibres. Barmag will now be consolidated and integrated into the Rieter Group as the Man-Made Fiber Division.

The management of Barmag will remain unchanged. Georg Stausberg will continue to lead the division and will report to Thomas Oetterli, CEO of Rieter. He will also join the Group Executive Committee, strengthening leadership alignment across the group.

The transaction has been financed through the capital increase completed in October last year, along with long-term bank loans. In addition, Rieter maintains substantial cash reserves within its operating units. The company has also expanded its revolving credit facility, further strengthening financial flexibility.

Thomas Oetterli, CEO of Rieter:
“Barmag’s know-how is a perfect fit for Rieter and will accelerate profitable growth as well as strengthen our market leadership in the important region of Asia. The acquired filament know-how will help to expand our areas of expertise as a system provider and further advance automation and digitization solutions. This is the start of a successful future together and an important milestone in the implementation of our corporate strategy.”

With this acquisition, Rieter expands its technological expertise in filament and man-made fibre processing. The move also reinforces the company’s long-term strategy to enhance automation, digitalisation, and system-level innovation across the textile manufacturing value chain.
