The Retailers Association of India (RAI) reports a 6% growth in retail sales for March 2025 compared to the same month last year, as per its 60th Retail Business Survey. The figures indicate steady domestic demand amid ongoing global trade uncertainties.

Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO of RAI, noted that while Indian retail is growing, double-digit expansion remains elusive. He emphasized that consumers are spending cautiously, primarily on aspirational and innovative products, with discretionary spending shifting across categories rather than showing consistent growth.

Regional Highlights:

North and West India: 8% year-on-year growth

East and South India: 5% year-on-year growth

Category Highlights:

Food and Grocery: 11% growth

Quick Service Restaurants (QSR): 9% growth

The survey reflects a cautious optimism among retailers. Despite concerns over global trade tensions, domestic consumption patterns remain resilient, supporting a steady retail outlook for India.
