Warp ‘n Weft, a Banarasi couture business, has collaborated with fashion brand World of Asra to launch a women’s occasion dress collection called ‘Aadhyavi,’ which combines heritage craft processes with modern aesthetics.

According to a press release, the collaboration hopes to capitalize on the previously untapped potential of employing Indian heritage textiles to create avant-garde designs. The joint collection accentuates the rich hues and intricate patterns of Banarasi weaves, recreating them as youthful, fun short dresses with corset, frill, and halter-neck embellishments, as well as tailored trench coats.

To complement the collection, the brands created a campaign starring seven women chosen for their inspirational work in the creative and entrepreneurial industries. Anushka Nandani Sawhney, co-founder of The Tribe India, wedding and luxury editor Nupur Sarvaiya, Altair’s founder Janki Desai, neuropsychologist and psychotherapist Jasdeep Mago Jethni, Three Entertainment’s co-founder Saanya Sharma, Happy In The Head’s creative head Avani Yashwin, and Look What Happened’s founder and creative director Adhunika Singh all wore looks from the collection to present in their own unique way for the campaign.

This holiday season, the new collection will be available at Warp ‘n Weft and World of Asra’s flagship stores. Warp ‘n Weft has been in business for 27 years, with a shop in Mumbai’s Marine Lines.
