As part of its ongoing efforts to achieve steady, organic growth, travel goods brand Carl Friedrik has opened its first physical location on Regent Street in London. The company, which raised one million pounds this year through a customer-led angel round, said that the store opening marked a significant milestone in its journey and that the latest funding was initiated to support such an expansion.

Interior architect Tabitha Isobel designed the store, utilizing both contemporary and period details from the 19th century to create a space that echoes the aesthetic of Carl Friedrik’s own collections. Isobel’s design aims to create a more gallery-like atmosphere, with products displayed on pedestals and sales associates armed with handheld devices instead of set tills.

Elsewhere, a lounge area furnished with mid-century and postmodern pieces sits among artwork reflecting “the romance of travel,” the layout of which hopes to encourage visitors to immerse themselves in the brand’s world. In a release, co-founder of the brand, Mattis Oppermann, said: “Opening our first physical flagship store has been an ambition for many years. We have gone through a meticulous design process to reflect our ethos of quality and timelessness. It’s an exciting time for the brand and our customers alike.”
