The stunning red carpet at Met Gala 2023 was crafted by talented artisans from Kerala, India.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City hosted the Met Gala 2023, one of the biggest fashion events, last night. A highlight of the night was the red carpet, which was made in India by Neytt by Extraweave, a design house from Kerala. The beige carpet with blue and red designs was a proud moment for the team, according to Neytt, who also shared their experience on their Instagram handle expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their contemporary design made in India.

This was not the first time the design house had designed a red carpet for Met Gala; it was the second time in a row that they had provided the design. They revealed that the artisans made the red carpet in 60 days and it was enormous in size, covering 6960 square metres. The design, woven with love and rooted in Kerala, was made out of 100% Sisal, woven in Alleppey, and hand-painted in the US.

The Met Gala was attended by several celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani, Natasha Poonawalla, Nicole Kidman, Karlie Kloss, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna. They all graced the red carpet, which was a beautiful representation of Indian craftsmanship and artistry.

Neytt’s post showcased a video of the celebrities walking on the red carpet. It also had snippets of the artisans working on it, reflecting hard work and dedication. The design house expressed their excitement to share the stage with such talented designers and celebrities who attended the event. It was an opportunity for the company to show their beautiful Sisal carpet to the world.

Neytt by Extraweave’s contribution only proved that India has immense talent in the creative space, and the world is watching.
